The weekend kicks off with the Manchester derby and a potential baptism of fire for new interim head coach Michael Carrick as he welcomes his side's ultra-dominant rivals to Old Trafford to kick off his reign in the dugout.

Focus then switches to another Premier League coaching debut for Liam Rosenior at Chelsea, with the Blues looking for their first home win against local rivals Brentford under the former Hull City manager.

Liverpool should have a more straightforward time of it again struggling Burnley at Anfield, while Tottenham will be been to avoid a slip-up against Nuno Espirito Santo's lacklustre West Ham side in north London.

Rounding off Saturday's action is a challenging trip for league leaders Arsenal to Nottingham Forest, with Mikel Arteta hoping to keep clear of their top-tables rivals.

Sunday's matches see Wolves host Newcastle after the latter's disappointing Carabao Cup semi-final runout against City midweek, and Aston Villa look to overturn Everton at home.

Daily Mail Sport's expert in situ this week is LEWIS STEELE after Nathan Salt's turn last time out.

'My quick maths makes Michael Carrick the sixth boss Pep Guardiola has faced in the Manchester Derby and, though there have been many failures at Old Trafford in that decade, most have tended to get a win in this fixture.

'Whether that be Erik ten Hag in the FA Cup final against the odds or a big win for Ruben Amorim last December after dropping Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho from his squad, they all have done it.

'So, will Carrick follow suit? The odds look stacked against him, with City now 13 games unbeaten since a much-changed side lost to Bayer Leverkusen in November.

EXPERT PREDICTIONS

Lewis Steele is the Daily Mail Sport expert to beat this week

Man United vs Man City - AWAY WIN

Chelsea vs Brentford - HOME WIN

Liverpool vs Burnley - HOME WIN

Tottenham vs West Ham - HOME WIN

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal - AWAY WIN

Wolves vs Newcastle - AWAY WIN

Aston Villa vs Everton - HOME WIN

'Guardiola’s side have found ways to win without Erling Haaland, who has scored just one in his last five games but has six goals in this fixture.

'United may fancy their chances against City’s rookie defensive duo of Abdukodir Khusanov, 21, and Max Alleyne, 20. But I’m going for a win for City.

'We’ve also got Liam Rosenior’s first league game against west London friends Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

'As much as I think the former Hull and Strasbourg boss should get off to a flyer, the Bees have lost just one of their last eight games – away at the Etihad Stadium – and won five of those. I am ignoring that form guide, though, and going home win.

'Liverpool are 11 unbeaten and I am not forecasting that to change at Anfield to lowly Burnley on Saturday – though the Reds must improve. Home win.

'Then Nuno Espirito Santo is clinging on to his job at West Ham, 10 without a win in the league, so I am fancying his old employers Tottenham to win.

'Arsenal face a tough test at the City Ground – Sean Dyche has registered a few big wins over the Gunners during his managerial days – but I am backing Mikel Arteta’s men to triumph there.

'Finally, Newcastle to win at Wolves (despite Rob Edwards’s men being much improved) and Aston Villa to topple Everton.'
