The January transfer window has already seen some major moves. Antoine Semenyo’s £62.5m switch from Bournemouth to Manchester City has grabbed the headlines, with the Ghanaian making an immediate impact at the Etihad. Brennan Johnson has also moved, joining Crystal Palace for £35m.

While Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United have yet to make first-team signings, that could change soon as the Gunners chase the Premier League title and the top-four race remains tight.

Manchester City have agreed an initial £20m for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, who was linked with Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal last summer. Guehi nearly joined Liverpool for £35m before a Deadline Day deal collapsed.

Marc Guehi captained Crystal Palace to their first major trophy, winning the FA Cup against Manchester City last May, and also lifted the Community Shield after a victory over Liverpool at the start of this season.

Guehi established himself as an England regular after joining Crystal Palace from Chelsea in 2021 and played a key role in the Three Lions’ run to the Euro 2024 final.

City’s Jaden Heskey has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season. The 20-year-old forward, son of former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey, has made one senior appearance for City and captains their elite development squad.

Sheffield Wednesday are bottom of the Championship, 32 points from safety after an 18-point deduction. Heskey had drawn interest from multiple Championship and League One clubs before his move.

A club statement read: “The Owls have signed attacking midfielder Jaden Heskey on a half-season loan from Premier League giants Manchester City.

“The 20-year-old will add pace and power to Henrik Pedersen’s squad for the remainder of the campaign. He will wear shirt number 24 for the duration of his S6 stay.”

Former Liverpool forward Emile Heskey cemented his place in the Reds’ history by scoring 22 goals during the 2000–01 season, helping Gerard Houllier’s side secure three cup victories.

The Reds had pursued the England striker since Roy Evans’ managerial tenure, finally signing him in March 2000 for a then-record fee of £11million.

He featured 56 times during Liverpool’s landmark 2000–01 treble season, scoring 22 goals, including strikes across four FA Cup rounds and a hat-trick against Derby County. Heskey finished the campaign with three medals to his name.
