Rockets vs. Timberwolves: The matchup
The Rockets are set to play just their 16th home game of the season after playing 23 of their first 33 games on the road. Houston opened its current five-game home stand on Tuesday with a 119-113 win over the Chicago Bulls, but dropped a Thursday night contest with the Oklahoma City Thunder (111-91) to fall to 12-3 at Toyota Center this season. The Rockets are listed as 3.5-point favorites on Friday with hopes of playing a tighter game than the loss to OKC, which was a lopsided 20-point outcome despite huge Rockets advantages in rebounding (60-44), offensive rebounds (23-7) and field goal attempts (104).

The Timberwolves are humming along with the fourth-best record in the Western Conference (27-14) and a 6-1 mark over their past seven games. Minnesota hit the road Tuesday night for the first of four straight games away from home and opened with style by blowing out the Bucks in Milwaukee (139-106) to earn a pair of off days before playing back-to-back in Houston and San Antonio the next two nights. Julius Randle led all scorers with 29 points as Minnesota shot 60% from the floor without Edwards (foot) or center Rudy Gobert (suspension) in the lineup.
