The star guard has been ruled out due to left groin soreness, continuing a season filled with injury management for the Lakers.
Doncic has been dealing with multiple physical issues throughout the year, and the team has opted to hold him out for the first game of a back-to-back.
The decision comes after a heavy workload in Thursday’s loss to the Charlotte Hornets. Despite clearly laboring at times, Doncic logged more than 36 minutes and finished with 39 points, three rebounds, and four assists.

During the second half, he briefly left the bench and went to the locker room before returning, a moment that raised concern about his condition.
With Doncic sidelined, the Lakers will lean heavily on LeBron James. The 41-year-old continues to play at a high level in his 23rd NBA season and will be asked to carry a larger offensive role against Portland.
Doncic has appeared in 32 games this season, averaging 33.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.7 assists while leading the league in scoring.
