There aren't many players who can boast earning contracts with both Manchester City and Manchester United

Frederic Veseli was just a teenager when he joined an elite group that boasts names like Denis Law and Carlos Tevez. Aged only 19 at the time, Veseli found himself training alongside the likes of Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero and David Silva at Manchester City, but breaking into the first team at the Etihad Stadium proved difficult.
After spending three-and-a-half years without making a senior appearance, Veseli decided it was time to move on. His next club was not only an unexpected choice, but also a very short journey away.
Despite Roberto Mancini's attempts to persuade Veseli to pen fresh terms, the youngster's ambition to further his career saw him join Manchester United, with Sir Alex Ferguson instrumental in convincing the defender to make the switch.
Veseli's former agent Adam Bouskouchi previously said: "These days, Manchester City are chasing titles and major trophies. It is difficult for them to have faith in youth because they obviously feel experience is the best way for them to get where they want to go.
"But that attitude didn't help Freddie, who just felt like he wasn't progressing. Freddie spoke with several clubs, here and abroad. But he wants to be a top player in England.
"When Sir Alex spoke to him, it made such an impression. He is a difficult man to say no to and his track record was enough for Freddie to feel he was making the right choice to join United."
Veseli kept turning out for City's reserve team throughout the final 12 months of his deal whilst contract talks rumbled on, with Ferguson making an appearance at one of his matches. "We could never agree terms," the now 33-year-old explained.

"Mancini would ask me all the time what was happening. I carried on playing. I played against United's reserves who had Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager. United had a lot of first-teamers, we had reserves only and we drew 1-1. Fergie was there watching. I had a really good game."
Yet it was prior to the iconic Scot's first involvement that the groundwork for a possible switch to United began taking shape. A chance meeting with then-United assistant Rene Meulensteen at a local pub whilst Veseli was picking up his girlfriend led to discussions about his circumstances at City.
Veseli recalled: "Mancini was disappointed and was always asking me to renew. I didn't know what to say to him. My contract was up and City released me and signed a paper saying I could leave on a free.

"The next day, I drove to City's training ground at Carrington to collect my stuff. I didn't tell anybody what I was going to do next. I told the gaffer that I was leaving the club. He asked me where I was going. I told him: 'United'. He couldn't believe it, but he had to take training. He wished me good luck."
Veseli's stint at Old Trafford lasted only a season, and he didn't manage to break into the first team before being let go in the summer of 2013. Following spells at Ipswich Town, Bury, Port Vale and Lugano, he moved to Italian outfit Empoli, where he spent the next four years.
After a whirlwind five years playing for five different clubs, Veseli now plies his trade with Serie B side Sudtirol. Meanwhile, the two Manchester giants are set to clash at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime, with City looking to complete a double over their rivals after a 3-0 victory at the Etihad earlier in the campaign.
