Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler had a hilarious exchange with a reporter after his high-flying dunk in a 126-113 win over the Knicks. When asked about aging affecting his athleticism, Butler fired back, “Yeah, no s–t. You’re older than you were yesterday,” showing he’s still in peak form at 36 and isn’t afraid to roast the media.
Jimmy Butler made sure the spotlight stayed on his words as much as his play. After leading the Golden State Warriors to a 126-113 win over the New York Knicks on Thursday night, Butler turned a routine postgame question into a viral moment.
The veteran wing was asked about a first-quarter alley-oop dunk that surprised many, given his age, but Butler was not interested in hearing that part of the narrative.
Reporter: “Usually, as players age, they get less athletic. You had a play today where you almost jumped out of the gym.”
Butler: “I’m not old, first of all. "
When the reporter tried to clarify, Butler doubled down.
Reporter: “You’re not old, but you’re older than you were when you came into the league.”
Butler: “Yeah, no s–t. You’re older than you were yesterday.”
The question was meant as praise, but Butler turned it into a sharp back-and-forth that matched his personality.
The comments came after a strong performance on the floor. Butler finished with a game-high 32 points, along with 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
His two-handed alley oop dunk in the first quarter sparked the crowd and set the tone for the Warriors' win at Chase Center.
