Red Star Belgrade’s Vasilije Kostov is reportedly now a player that Arsenal are keen to sign ahead of some of the biggest clubs in world football, after being impressed with the talented 17 year old.
Mikel Arteta may be forgiven for not wanting to delve into the transfer kitty too much this transfer window, his ARSENAL side are sitting top of the Premier League and playing some brilliant football.
They are also favourites to go deep into the Champions League, and maybe pick up the FA Cup, but that has not stopped rumours in the media which have claimed the Gunners could make some signings this transfer window
Kostov caught the eye of the top clubs last year when he scored a cheeky Panenka penalty against Barcelona in the Uefa Youth League. He made his first-team debut in April and has established himself as a regular this season, featuring in both the Serbian SuperLiga and the Europa League for Red Star.
The 17-year-old has returned six goals and five assists in 23 matches, including a stunning half-volley away to Porto in October.
Red Star will not sell Kostov, who does not turn 18 until May, this month but Serbia’s Telegraf claims they are ready to entertain offers in excess £17m in the summer.
IcFootballnews Says…
The lad is attracting all sorts of interest because of his impressive performances, but he does not need to make a move to one of the big clubs at this stage of his career, he is not quite ready.
He could develop into a real star, but only if he chooses the right club and to be honest, if he does make the move to ARSENAL, it could be a wise decision as they are one of the sides that like to give talents a chance to prove themselves.
