It proved to be his last game in charge at Bournemouth, just four games into the season, as tensions boiled over with the club’s hierarchy.
While playing Liverpool away will bring back painful memories for Parker, he insists the experience hasn’t scarred him as he returns with his Burnley side.
“I mean, I'm definitely over it,” he said. “In what we do, you can't fester too long.
“It was a painful day, of course it was, and it wasn't enjoyable. But we go back there now with an opportunity to go and get a positive result.
“I also have a result before that 9-0, where we go and beat them 1-0 with Fulham and they were champions that year.
“How quickly things can turn from a positive result with Fulham, a 1-0 win, to obviously a painful one.”

“I don't know about that,” Parker added.
“I think there’s a few of them [painful defeats] this year, to be honest, when you look back. But I’m not one that often looks back.

“There was a positive performance from us and one, of course, that hurt at the back end for such a late goal to go in. But we can take massive positives from that performance, playing against a world-class team.
“We know the challenges that we face are certainly going to unfold as well. But for sure, we're going to need to adopt a lot of the things that we see early on in the season against them and hopefully we can be on the right side of a result.”
While the 9-0 defeat certainly won’t have helped, it’s understood Parker’s sacking at Bournemouth was actually down to a lack of cohesion behind the scenes and with the club’s owners.
But the Clarets boss insists there’s no chance of that repeating itself at Turf Moor.
“There's a feeling here of we're all accountable, we're all in this, there is no finger-pointing,” he explained.
“We trust in terms of what we're doing and there's a real understanding of that and that's the position that I feel really comfortable in.
“I think I've said it numerous times, I feel the utmost support. I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever. The support, the level of commitment, everything regarding what's around me, the team, ownership, staff, we're all in this together.
“This journey this year, at times, there's going to be some ups, there's going to be some downs, but I have a feeling that we're all on an understanding of what it is and what we're going to need to do.”
