January is often about familiarity for clubs fighting to steady themselves. In League Two, where margins are thin and momentum matters, managers frequently turn to players who already understand the environment.
Crawley Town find themselves in that position again this winter. The club is looking to stabilise its season and reconnect with the identity that previously delivered success.
The Red Devils are no strangers to rebuilding through experience. Their recent promotion-winning campaign showed how much cohesion matters in the lower leagues.
Bringing back players who understand the club, the stadium, and the pressure of League Two can often be more valuable than chasing unfamiliar names. It is a strategy Crawley have leaned into during this window.
That context explains why the club has moved decisively in the market. Rather than gamble, Crawley have opted for continuity.
The latest arrival fits that profile perfectly. He knows the club. He has delivered here before. And he returns at a time when experience and reliability are crucial.
Crawley Town have officially confirmed the signing of Kellan Gordon from Notts County for an undisclosed fee. The wing-back has signed an 18-month deal and returns to the Broadfield Stadium after two seasons away.
He becomes the third member of Crawley’s 2023–24 promotion-winning squad to rejoin the club this January, following Danilo Orsi and Klaidi Lolos.
Gordon first joined Crawley in January 2023 and played a key role in helping the club avoid relegation.
He went on to make 38 appearances the following season as Crawley secured promotion to League One through the play-offs at Wembley. His return adds experience and familiarity to a squad currently battling in League Two.
Before his first spell at Crawley, Gordon came through Derby County’s academy after being released by Stoke City. He gained senior experience through loan spells at Swindon Town and Lincoln City before establishing himself at Mansfield Town.
He joined Notts County in July 2024 and made close to 50 appearances across two seasons.
From a Liverpool perspective, Gordon’s return carries added interest. He is the older brother of Kaide Gordon, the Liverpool winger who broke into the Reds’ first team as a teenager.
While the brothers are on different paths, both have come through strong academy systems and faced early pressure in the professional game.
Kellan Gordon will not feature against Notts County this weekend due to registration rules. However, his return is expected to play a key role in Crawley’s push for stability.
For Liverpool fans, it is another reminder that development takes many routes, and steady progress can be just as important as early headlines.
