Liverpool, Chelsea And Man Utd All Make 'Offers' For Fullback Who Has Played Just 4 Senior Games

Liverpool are involved in a three-way battle for Sheffield Wednesday fullback Yisa Alao, according to reports in the local media.

The Star has confirmed that Chelsea have joined the Reds and Manchester United in making formal “offers” for the 17-year-old.

It is believed all the bids on the table are in the “six-figure” range as they look to tempt cash-strapped Wednesday into selling one of their best young assets.

The Owls are currently in the hands of administrators, but there is a favoured bidder who has already “deposited a large non-refundable deposit”.

That means that the Championship side won’t be undergoing a fire sale, but Alao could still depart Hillsborough this month if a good enough proposal is made.

What do fans need to know about Alao?

The teenager is a left-back by trade, having made his way up through Wednesday’s youth ranks before making his senior debut at the start of the season.

Alao came on as a substitute during the penalty shootout win over Bolton Wanderers in the first round of the Carabao Cup back in August.

The defender also featured in the third round of the competition against Grimsby Town a month later. He has subsequently made a brief cameo in a league game versus Derby County, before getting his first start against Brentford in the FA Cup last weekend.

Liverpool are in the middle of a youth recruitment drive

While fans are extremely frustrated that the Reds are not making any moves to strengthen the senior squad, the Merseyside club have been busy reinforcing the Under 21s with several centre-backs.

Talla Ndiaye has already arrived from Amitie FC, and former Burnley defender Noah Adekoya has been snapped up on a free transfer. Austria Vienna’s Ifeanyi Ndukwe is expected to follow suit when he turns 18 this summer.
