Liverpool vs Burnley LIVE: Match build-up at Anfield, team news, how to watch

After continuing its unbeaten run in the FA Cup on Monday, Liverpool returns to Premier League action today against Burnley.

The Reds currently sit fourth in the Premier League table and will be keeping an eye on results elsewhere, with several top-four rivals in action across Saturday

A run of three straight draws has prevented Liverpool from extending its gap to the chasing pack, but it is heavy favorite to beat a Burnley side that is locked in the grips of a relegation scrap.

In truth, after a run of no wins in 12 league matches, the chances of the Clarets avoiding the drop are looking increasingly slim. However, Scott Parker’s side has drawn three of the last five and kept Liverpool at bay for over 90 minutes in the corresponding fixture at Turf Moor.

The Burnley boss will also hope Saturday’s game goes a little better than his last trip to Anfield, when he was beaten 9-0 as Bournemouth boss in 2022.

Both sides head into the game on the back of FA Cup wins, but it’s draws that have dominated recent league results. Liverpool has tied its last three, but hasn’t lost a match in any competition since November. As Burnley, it has drawn three of the last five, but has not experienced a Premier League victory in its last 12 outings. Something needs to change if the Clarets are to avoid the drop.

Liverpool approaches the game in fourth place, but with three sides in touching distance of the champions. In fact, should the Reds lose today, it could end Saturday in seventh. As for Burnley, it is 19th in the table and trails Nottingham Forest in 17th by eight points.
