Sportico have compiled a list of the highest paid athletes in the world.

The list consists of athletes from eight sports and twenty eight countries.

100 athletes feature on the list, and together they earned a combined $6.05billion in 2025.

No woman featured on the list, with the highest earning female being Coco Gauff at $31million.

Cristiano Ronaldo tops the list as the highest paid athlete in the world, with the Portuguese forward earning $250m last year.

One Liverpool star features on the list and that is none other than Mohamed Salah.

The Anfield icon ranks 43rd on the list, with the Egyptian earning $54million in 2025.

According to Sportico, Mohamed Salah earned $34m through his salary/winnings, and $20m through endorsements.

A remarkably successful year for the winger, who signed a blockbuster contract extension and won the Premier League.

On and off the pitch he is a significant figure, and one of the faces of the Premier League.

This has lead to him signing multiple sponsorship deals, amongst other things, helping him to feature in this list.

It is important to note that the list consists of estimates, not fact.

“In soccer and baseball, the listed salaries reflect weighted averages of base salaries during the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons, as well as bonuses paid out during 2025.”

Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane also makes the list, coming in at 52nd place, as the Senegalese earned an estimated $50m last year.
