Man City player ratings: 'Dire' 4/10 and nine 5/10s in dreadful derby defeat to Manchester…

Rico Lewis and Erling Haaland both struggled as Man City were comfortably beaten 2-0 by Manchester United in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola made three changes to the starting line up with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Rodri and Rico Lewis selected from the start.

United started the better side and went close to an early lead when Harry Maguire headed against the bar from close range as both teams contributed to a frantic start. Patrick Dorgu forced a good stop from Donnarumma and Amad saw a goal ruled out for offside as the home side enjoyed the better of the first-half.

City almost scored from a rare chance when Max Alleyne saw a header stopped on the line, while Antoine Semenyo curled an effort just wide of the post. United started bright after the break and should have taken the lead when Casemiro was twice denied by a superb Donnarumma double save.

The City goalkeeper made another good stop to deny Mbeumo from close range but he stood no chance when the Cameroon forward fired into the bottom corner after an electric counter-attack to give United a deserved lead. United continued to dominate proceedings and doubled their lead when Patrick Dorgu swept in at the back-post after an excellent cross from Matheus Cunha.

Here is how we rated the City players at Old Trafford.

Alert early on to race off his line. He read the game very well and made some important stops. It would have been more without him.
