Michael Carrick got off to a dream start as head coach of Manchester United against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon. Carrick has taken the Old Trafford hot seat until the end of the season after Ruben Amorim was sacked earlier this month.
The 44-year-old briefly took over as caretaker manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in November 202 and began his second stint with a 2-0 victory over Pep Guardiola's side. Bryan Mbeumo had opened the scoring before Patrick Dorgu doubled his side’s lead.
The victory moves Carrick's side into the top four in the table, and due to United not being in Europe and being out of both cup competitions, they will only be playing in the Premier League from here until the end of the season.
Next up for the Reds is a trip to the capital to take on table-topping Arsenal, before Fulham visit Old Trafford at the start of next month.
United then face Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United before they round off the month of February with a trip to Hill Dickinson Stadium to take on Everton.
