Man Utd secured a memorable 2-0 victory over Manchester City in the Premier League.

Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu grabbed the goals for Michael Carrick's side, but they could have won by an even greater margin after an excellent team performance. United saw three goals ruled out for offside in the match, while they also hit the woodwork twice and had a few chances stopped by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

While it was a euphoric moment for United under new head coach Carrick, it was another tough day for City under Guardiola as they continue to lose ground in the title race. Arsenal could go nine points clear when they travel to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening and it already looks unlikely City will be able to turn such a deficit around.

Guardiola gives verdict on derby defeat

Speaking after Man City were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford, Pep Guardiola accepted the better side won the match, and claimed they had a level of 'energy' his side couldn't match.

"The better team won. They were better," Guardiola told Sky Sports after the match. "When a team is better you have to accept it. They had the energy we didn't have, so congratulations.

"They had the chances at the end and of course the goals we conceded were poorly. We didn't control but in general we can talk about this action or that action. We have the duty to analyse the game in general and they were better."

When asked for his latest title verdict after the derby defeat, the City boss added: "It is about how we grow up as a team. I have the feeling we have done very good things so far. To be better you may have to take a step back. The season is a long way and you have to continue to analyse."
