(Video): Chelsea denied penalty as Kayode clips Joao Pedro’s heel in the box

Chelsea have just had what looked like a clear penalty turned down against Brentford.

The Blues looked nervy in the first ten minutes, and it was actually on a counter attack that the Blues had their chance.

Enzo Fernandez surged forward and played in Joao Pedro with a nice pass.

The Brazilian took a bad touch that didn’t carry the ball with him, and as he tried to recover it, Michael Kayode caught his heel.

The ref said no penalty, and the VAR didn’t want to overrule him. There was contact, not enough to bring JP down but enough to potentially be a pen. Have a look and see what you make of it.

Chelsea are keen on signing a defender this month, and according to top sources they might just get one. Their interest in a Ligue 1 defender looks very real indeed.

An interesting transfer rumour popped up in the buildup to this game, claiming Chelsea were interested in a very highly priced player. We simply don’t believe it, sadly.
