The Utah Jazz are reportedly expected to have "big interest" in Los Angeles Lakers star Austin Reaves this summer.
The Los Angeles Lakers will have a lot of work to do in the upcoming season, as their star guard Austin Reaves will most likely become a free agent, with plenty of teams wanting to sign him.
One of the teams expected to be active in trying to lure Reaves to their roster is the Utah Jazz, who could splurge in free agency as they are projected to have one of the largest cap spaces in the league.
“I think the Utah Jazz are going to be a team that has big interest in Austin Reaves this summer,” Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor said on his podcast.
“There are going to be teams that make a big max offer for Reaves, and he’s going to have that choice. So the Lakers—like, Rich Paul’s not saying it—but I’m sure Rich Paul has that same exact information about where Reaves could go this offseason.”
Before suffering a gastrocnemius strain in late December, Reaves was playing the best basketball of his career. He is averaging 26.6 points and 6.3 assists per game and was on track for his first All-Star appearance.
Los Angeles currently holds a 24-15 record but has dropped 11 of its last 20 games, leading many to believe the team needs more athleticism, perimeter defense, and three-point shooting.
Reaves has one year left on his contract and is expected to opt out this summer in search of a larger deal.
