Chelsea have been forced into making a second half change against Brentford which they won’t have wanted to.
Tosin was a slightly surprising selection by new manager Liam Rosenior – the defender is just not popular with fans, and many would rather see young Josh Acheampong given a chance in the middle.

However, to be fair to Tosin, he was probably picked for his aerial ability in this game, and he made the most of his chance. As the Blues felt big pressure from Brentford throughout, Tosin stood up tall and made some crucial clearances.
You never want to lose a central defender midway through a game as it disrupts your defensive structure so much, and to lose a player who is playing well and is good in the air is a real blow when we’re under pressure like this at home.
We will get an update on the defender’s status after the game when Rosenior speaks to the media. This may accelerate our move for Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet, which has been spoken about quite a lot in recent days as we look to ultimately upgrade on the likes of Tosin.
In other news…
Chelsea have the lead thanks to Enzo Fernandez, who chased down and blocked a clearance which fell for Joao Pedro to hammer in. That’s his 5th goal or assist in 6 games, showing just how important he is to this team right now.
Cole Palmer had a very poor first half, and his bad form is really reaching crisis point now. He has been back from his injury for a while now but still looks to be short of fitness. This is becoming the first big crisis of Liam Rosenior’s reign.
