Chelsea player ratings vs Brentford as South American duo prove too hot to handle

Saturday was a big day for Liam Rosenior as Chelsea took on Brentford in his first Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.

Rosenior was looking for his first home win after watching his Chelsea side lose to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

And he was able to get that thanks to goals from Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer in the Blues’ 2-0 win versus their west London rivals.

Chelsea player ratings vs Brentford

Robert Sanchez – 7/10

Played a fantastic ball to Pedro Neto just before the 15th minute. Looked much more confident after a difficult night against Arsenal

Reece James – 6/10

Inverted into midfield as he often did under Enzo Maresca. Had to do a lot of defending in the second half but was solid.

Tosin Adarabioyo – 6/10

A steady performance, something Tosin Adarabioyo really needed after his struggles this season.

Trevoh Chalobah – 6/10

Was put on his bum by Kevin Schade in the first half, redeemed himself in the second.

Marc Cucurella – 6/10

Much better performance compared to his one against Arsenal. Picked up another yellow card, however.

Moises Caicedo – 6/10

Nothing spectacular but it was a Moises Caicedo performance. He made tackles but also gave away fouls.

Enzo Fernandez – 7/10

Conducted the game well in the first 20 minutes. What you expect from a £100m midfielder, but Enzo Fernandez’s pressing was also impressive and contributed to Chelsea’s opener.

Pedro Neto – 5/10

Quiet afternoon, especially compared to Alejandro Garnacho on the opposite flank.

Cole Palmer – 8/10

Palmer’s first touch is still class and remains tricky on the ball. No trouble converting his penalty.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6/10

Almost made Brentford pay after a poor ball back to the goalkeeper before putting in a very good cross not too long after. Should have scored before the first half concluded.

Joao Pedro – 8/10

Pedro was unfortunate not to have won a penalty early in the game. Took his goal excellently, though, and worked hard.

Substitutes:

Liam Delap – 6/10

Won a penalty after coming on. Has really improved since Enzo Maresca’s departure at the start of the year.

Andrey Santos – 6/10

Wesley Fofana – 6/10

Jorrel Hato – N/A

Josh Acheampong – N/A
