Estevao Willian was a name that Chelsea fans were hoping would feature in the starting XI vs Brentford, but he wasn’t even named in the squad.
Chelsea managed to put defeat against Arsenal right at Stamford Bridge, as goals from Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro secured Liam Rosenior his first three points.
Pedro Neto was given the nod on the right-hand side, while Alejandro Garnacho was rewarded for his brace against Arsenal midweek.
Joao Pedro led the line after concerns Liam Delap wouldn’t make the squad due to illness, but he started on the substitutes’ bench and ended up winning the penalty.
However, the one concern was Estevao Willian, after seeing his name absent from the teamsheet.

Esetavo Willian missed the Brentford clash due to illness
Estevao Willian was the pick of the bunch for Chelsea during the defeat to Arsenal, and even earned the praise of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink for causing carnage against Jurrien Timber.
However, with many expecting him to be rewarded with another start, it was a surprise to see Pedro Neto named and the Brazilian not even in the squad.
However, it’s not as bad as people may have feared.
According to Liam Rosenior, Estevao was absent due to illness.
“Estevao had a temperature and a fever. We need to be adaptable and adjust the way we work.”

Should Chelsea rest Estevao Willian against Pafos?
The illness that Estevao Willian is suffering from can take some time to get over. It’s unlikely he’ll be able to take part in training until it clears, with the risk of potentially passing it on to other players.
