One positive Liverpool fans can take from Burnley draw involves Arne Slot's future - opinion

Another game, another frustrating watch for Liverpool fans after their side failed to beat a Burnley side sat in the relegation zone.

Saturday’s match started off so well for the Reds, who many thought had turned a corner in the Arsenal meeting last week.

Liverpool fans were praising Milos Kerkez’s display in the first half, and despite a penalty miss from Dominik Szoboszlai, the home side went in at the break 1-0 up and in complete control.

As has been the case for much of 2025/26, however, the Merseyside outfit came undone in the second half.

Burnley, who spent much of the opening 45 minutes pegged back in their own half, were allowed to grow into the game and score an equaliser.

From there, Liverpool had little to no response, with a flat, uncreative end to the match, seeing the points shared.

However, it feels like no matter what happens, Arne Slot just can’t fix the issues at the club right now.

Liverpool fans want a new manager and have been crying out for change for some time, Saturday was no different.

On that front, given it was a home meeting against a Burnley team who are expected to be relegated, fans may get their wish.

Earlier this week, one journalist said Liverpool could appoint an interim manager if there is a really bad run of results.

Well, 2026 has started with four league draws in a row, the latest being against a team Liverpool really should have beaten with ease.

If that continues, it could be the case that FSG are forced into making a change before the season is over.

We have already seen on Saturday with Michael Carrick’s Manchester United beating Manchester City that it could give a team a lift.

Liverpool have a better squad than Utd, but it just feels like the players have lost belief in the manager and something needs to change.
