Crawley Town player ratings: Arsenal youngster impresses with an 8

A new look Crawley Town suffered a 2-1 defeat to play-off chasing Notts County on Saturday afternoon as old and new faces took to the pitch.

Here are our player ratings:

Harvey Davies – 5. A sub-par performance from Crawley’s number one. Ill-positioned for County’s opener and had a few nervy moments on the ball. Made a few good saves in the second half but ultimately did not affect the result.

Harry Forster – 6. It felt like a standard Harry Forster performance with excellent work ethic, good deliveries into the box but let down by his physicality.

Jonny Russell – 7. Showed real glimpses of quality at both ends of the pitch and proved he can be an effective player in Lindsey’s side, also showed he can cause trouble with his long throws.

Dion Pereira – 6. A quieter performance from Crawley’s usual trickster as he failed to make any big impact on the game.

Jay Williams – 7. Perhaps the addition of his former teammates to the side added extra fight to Williams’ performance. Came close to putting the Reds 1-0 up 20 minutes in. Substituted after an hour.

Josh Flint – 6. Made a mistake in the first half which led to County scoring, but thankfully for Flint the goal was flagged offside. Made promising forward runs which were in vain.

Louis Copley – 8. Fitted in seamlessly in the midfield, a real one to watch for Crawley and he will be an important player in the second half of the season. Awarded Crawley’s Man of the Match.

Akin Odimayo – 6. Quietly delivered an impressive performance. Rarely let Notts County in down the right-hand side of defence. Performed a brilliant goal line clearance early in the second half. In the end though the Crawley defence failed to keep a clean sheet, a run which stretches back to October.

Theo Vassell – 7. Had a good tussle with Notts County’s striker Alassana Jatta, who doubled the lead with ten minutes remaining. Vassell won a lot of headers and made some key blocks and interventions.

Klaidi Lolos – 5. Sent off after the hour mark which deflated Crawley’s chances of a result. Had a promising first half but let his side down with his dismissal.

Danilo Orsi – 7. Crawley Town’s playoff hero showed that he is capable of returning to the heights of 2023/24 with a dogged effort up front but has to accept his side are in a different situation this time around.

Substitutes:

Max Anderson – 6. Returning from injury, Anderson struggled to match the pace of the game. With time, he will be an important asset to the team.

Harry McKirdy – 6. A late free kick goal gave Crawley fans something to cheer about and McKirdy can leave with his head held high.

Crawley Town will need time for new players to gel, but time is of the essence as their relegation battle continues.
