Stephen Curry and Mike Brown embraced a hug together after the Warriors defeated the Knicks on Jan. 15.
The Golden State Warriors won its second consecutive game, defeating the New York Knicks 126-113 on Jan. 15.
After the game, Stephen Curry and Knicks head coach Mike Brown were seen embracing each other with a hug and had a brief conversation.
From 2016-2022, Curry and Brown were together on the Warriors. Brown served as the associate head coach during that time and the two won three NBA titles together. Curry has a lot of respect for Brown and values the relationship they have.
“When he was on our staff we accomplished a lot,” Curry said. “And I’m happy to see him doing well in New York. It’s just good memories and the competition of the game kind of brings out the best in us.”
Though their not together on the same team anymore, Curry continues to show respect to his former coach.
Steph Curry and Mike Brown Were Part of a Dynasty
When Brown joined the Warriors during the 2016-17 he immediately made an impact. There were numerous times where he filled in as head coach when Steve Kerr had to step away because of chronic back pain.
During the 2017 playoffs, he helped guide the Warriors to a 12-0 record. The Warriors would go on to win the NBA title defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games. Golden State went on to win its second consecutive title the following season defeating the Cavaliers again.
Brown, who’s in his first season as head coach with the Knicks, enjoyed his time on the coaching staff with the Warriors.
“I got to help, too. That’s one when I was fortunate, blessed and lucky to be in back‑to‑back Finals, go a couple of times where you had long seasons and you feel that the next season is right there on one you,” he said of his time with Golden State via New York Post writer Stefan Bondy.

During the 2023 playoffs, the Warriors and Sacramento Kings matched up in the first round. Brown was in his first season as head coach of the Kings and he was named NBA Coach of the Year.
Going into that series Curry knew the Kings had a good team and had a good coach. “We wanna just have another level of focus and attention about everything that we’re doing on both ends of the floor to give ourselves the best shot to do that, Curry said via 95.7 The Game. “We know it’s going to be tough. They’ve been a great team all year. They’ve had a great season. Mike B knows us well and we know him well.”
The series went seven games with the Warriors advancing to the next round. Both Curry and Brown have been around the game of basketball for a long time and they continue to have an impact. In the game of sports, you build relationships with players, staff, and coaches. For Curry and Brown, their relationship is still strong and they have memories together that they’ll remember for a long time.
