In the end, it did not matter, as Cole Palmer managed to double the Blues’ lead and kill off the game in the 76th minute.
With Brentford having come close to grabbing an equaliser on multiple occasions, Chelsea players had every reason to celebrate Palmer’s goal. Yet a couple of members of the team were reluctant to, which did not go down well with Reece James.

Reece James ordered Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana to celebrate Chelsea’s second goal
The two Chelsea stars in question were Chalobah and Fofana, who were perhaps a bit tired and did not fancy running all the way to the opposite end of the pitch for a goal that was not an equaliser or winner.
Whatever the reason, it clearly did not matter to James. He instructed the two central defenders to make their way to the Matthew Harding Stand in order to celebrate Palmer’s goal with the rest of the team.
The moment was shared by journalist Kieran Gill on X. For many Chelsea supporters, it is the kind of action that demonstrates why James is the Blues captain and why that should continue.

This season, Chalobah and Fofana have probably been Chelsea’s two best centre-halves.
However, it looks like James could end up lining up alongside a completely new centre-back very soon.

Trevoh Chalobah or Wesley Fofana could be replaced
Chelsea are interested in signing Jeremy Jacquet and appear to be closing in on a deal to sign the 20-year-old.
That is bad news for Chalobah and Fofana, who are already competing against Benoit Badiashile and Tosin Adarabioyo.
Chelsea also have the young and talented Josh Acheampong, while you cannot forget about Levi Colwill, who is likely to be a starter once he returns from injury.
