Adam Silver confirms NBA Europe negotiations with PSG

NBA commissioner Adam Silver confirms discussions with Paris Saint-Germain as a potential franchise in the NBA Europe league.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver confirmed that talks are underway with Paris Saint-Germain as a potential franchise for the NBA Europe project.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday in London, Silver revealed that PSG is being considered as the primary candidate in Paris for the initiative, highlighting that the club has all the tools to operate a basketball team at the highest level.

“They compete at the highest level (in soccer), and they have the know-how to run a basketball club at the highest level, if they’re interested. Yes, it’s a club we’re talking to,” Silver said at the press conference in London on Saturday, via L’Equipe.

NBA deputy commissioner Mark Tatum added that Paris is an essential market for the NBA Europe project.

“Paris is a market we absolutely want to be in,” Tatum said. “There’s their ability to build a brand, a culture, and their partnership with the Jordan brand (Michael Jordan’s), which is linked to basketball."

"We’re looking for the right partners for our project, and PSG brings a very interesting level of expertise in marketing, promotion, and building a global brand," he added.
