Arne Slot tries to look on the bright side with 'big threat' claim after Liverpool's draw with Burnley

Liverpool were forced to settle for a point against Burnley after their performance dropped dramatically in the second half.

Milos Kerkez earned high praise from supporters during the opening stages of the clash.

The Hungarian has shown much improvement in recent weeks, and that continued against the Clarets despite the result.

Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong looked sharp linking up in the full-back roles, while Florian Wirtz scored again after taking several months to open his account for the Reds.

Surely Arne Slot is living on borrowed time, when will Liverpool pull the trigger?

Arne Slot praise for Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong

Now, speaking to the media post-match, Arne Slot was quick to highlight the improvements shown by several of his summer signings.

He lauded Wirtz’s goal and called Frimpong a big threat but admitted the result was frustrating.

As per Paul Gorst, he said: “We all have frustrations about the results, but sometimes the results aren’t showing the developments of some of the players.

“Kerkez, I agree, Wirtz scored a great goal, Frimpong was a big threat…But results don’t reflect development. That’s another frustration”

While it’s good to see the summer additions getting better, it probably isn’t ideal for Slot’s future.

Can anyone take the Man of the Match award off Florian Wirtz vs Burnley?

Liverpool improvements are hurting Arne Slot

Earlier in the season, when Liverpool were struggling, it was easy to blame the big summer transfer spree.

The Reds made a lot of changes to their squad, and it was only natural a few players took some time to get up to speed.

We saw this happen with the likes of Kerkez, Wirtz and, of course, Alexander Isak.

Isak remains out of action and is yet to find his feet at Liverpool, but every other summer signing is now playing well.

Even against Burnley, a game that should have been won easily, Wirtz, Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike were decent.

But if most new players are now in form, what excuse does Slot have left for the poor results?

He can’t really point to injury issues as a factor, given there are only three Liverpool players out right now.

Perhaps it could be a lack of backing from the board in January? But even with no additions made this month, there can be no excuse for Liverpool not winning on Saturday.
