Nuno Espirito Santo has two new January arrivals at West Ham but more are expected through the door at the London Stadium.
West Ham already find themselves halfway through their time for January transfer business with two important signings through the door in Taty Castellanos and Pablo.
The Hammers aren’t expected to be done there, with finding a new centre-back and adding strength in midfield a priority to help Nuno Espirito Santo in his relegation scrap.
LondonWorld looks at the current rumours circling around the London Stadium to see how West Ham could line up at the end of January, should they come true.
West Ham starting XI if January transfer rumours are true
Goalkeeper - Filip Jorgensen
The goalkeeping position has caused somewhat of a headache for both Nuno Espirito Santo and predecessor Graham Potter. West Ham spent £20 million to sign Mads Hermansen from Leicester City last summer and the 25-year-old went straight into the starting XI.
However, a dire start to the campaign cost Hermansen his place with Alphonse Areola reclaiming the role. Hermansen had been linked with a quick January exit but the latest reports suggest the shot-stopper is determined to stay and fight for this place in the side.
Filip Jorgensen is below Robert Sanchez in the pecking order at Chelsea and Football Insider report that the player is pushing for an exit to get more game time. The BBC claims that West Ham are ready to pounce with Jorgensen pushing to become Denmark’s starting goalkeeper.
Defenders - El Hadji Malick Diouf, Eric Dier, Jean-Clair Todibo, Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Finding a centre-back to add stability to a very shaky West Ham defence is the next priority for the club. Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos have struggled this season and extra mettle is needed.
West Ham target ex Chelsea midfielder and Fulham winger
Midfielders - N’Golo Kante, Mateus Fernandes, Pablo
Wingers - Adama Traore, Jarrod Bowen
Striker - Taty Castellanos
There is some promise in the centre of the park for West Ham with young duo Freddie Potts and Soungoutou Magassa, but those midfielders lack the experience for a relegation dogfight. Transfer specialist Ben Jacobs has claimed that former Chelsea man N’golo Kante could be targeted with his contract at Saudi side Al-Ittihad set to expire this summer, although there is serious competition from Fenerbahce.
Fulham winger Adama Traore has been regularly linked with a West Ham move thanks to his partnership with Nuno when at Wolves. Those links had died down but Hammers News now believe it is ‘back on the cards’. Adama is more regularly a right winger but does have experience on the left and could challenge Crysencio Summerville for a starting berth.
Pablo has already been recruited from Gil Vicente with Taty Castellanos coming in from Lazio. West Ham spent almost £50 million on the duo in the early days of the transfer window.
