Roma have now asked about signing Chelsea’s £38.8m player this month - journalist

Axel Disasi’s career has been wasting away at Chelsea after being placed in the so called ‘bomb squad’, but that could all be about to change.

Enzo Maresca made the ruthless decision shortly after being appointed as manager to send a number of Chelsea players away from the first-team squad. He reasoned that he wanted a focused group of about 21–25 players.

Despite the controversial move, you have to respect his honesty.

The likes of Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi, and Ben Chilwell are just a few names that once made up the Chelsea ‘bomb squad’.

Chilwell has managed to escape to Strasbourg, but both Disasi and Sterling are looking for new clubs this month, almost two years after being told they were no longer needed.

Interestingly, Liam Rosenior did pledge to speak to Disasi and Sterling, but it remains to be seen as to whether that has happened yet.

Is there a way back for Axel Disasi at Chelsea?

Or do the Blues just need to cut their losses? 👀

Roma and Lyon make enquiries over Axel Disasi

Axel Disasi certainly didn’t help his cause just over a week ago after putting in a very concerning performance for the Chelsea Under-21 side in a 6-2 defeat to Benfica.

But that hasn’t scared off any potential suitors.

As per Ben Jacobs, on a live stream on X, Roma and Lyon have asked about Axel Disasi.

“You have Axel Disasi, a centre-back at Chelsea, who is available, and Saudi clubs plus Roma and Lyon have made inquiries. Raheem Sterling as well, but I’m told he doesn’t want to move to Saudi Arabia or MLS.”

Chelsea’s centre-back situation

Chelsea have the likes of Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah and Levi Colwill as the main four centre-back options.

However, Colwill will be lucky to return before the end of the season.

This has resulted in the Chelsea owners going out and looking for reinforcements, with Jeremy Jacquet popping up.

Interestingly, it has now been claimed that Jacquet has agreed to a contract with Chelsea, but it all hinges on whether the Blues will pay his £60 million price tag.
