Red Bull chief opens door to Yan Diomande transfer

Six Bundesliga goals. A DFB-Pokal strike. A historic hat-trick before the age of 20. When a winger produces numbers like that in Germany, attention follows fast.

Yan Diomande has not just delivered end product. He has done it on big stages and against strong opponents. That alone places him in a crowded and competitive market.

The race for elite wide players has changed in recent years. Premier League clubs scout earlier. Bundesliga clubs move quicker.

Big teams no longer wait for players to peak. They move when value still exists. This is where the pressure begins. Once performances stack up, timing becomes everything.

Liverpool know this environment well. The club has watched rivals move early for young attackers. Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and clubs across Spain act decisively. Leipzig sit right in the middle of this system.

They are not sentimental sellers. They are a Red Bull club built on recruitment, development, and resale. Revenue matters. Squad turnover is part of the model.

That context makes recent comments from inside Leipzig impossible to ignore.

Speaking ahead of a clash with Bayern Munich, a senior figure acknowledged the reality of modern football.

He said, “You can’t let him go after just one year.” But he added something more revealing. “The truth is that there are other top clubs out there and we have to generate revenue.”

Those words came from Oliver Mintzlaff, Leipzig’s supervisory board chairman.

Bayern’s interest is real. Max Eberl is planning for the summer. Wide attackers are a priority. Diomande is on the list. Leipzig hold a long-term contract until 2030, but the door has been left open.

From a Liverpool point of view, this matters. The player has already spoken.

During a live stream earlier this month, Diomande made his feelings clear. He said, “I want to play at Anfield, I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a big Liverpool fan.” He went further. “My father’s dream is to see me play for Liverpool.”

This was not a press interview. There was no script. It came as Manchester United interest surfaced. Leipzig triggered his €20 million clause last summer.

He has delivered since. A record-breaking hat-trick in December confirmed his rise.

Nothing is close. Bayern are watching. Others are circling. Leipzig will decide when the numbers make sense.

But Liverpool now know something important. If the moment comes, the player already knows where he wants to go.

“You can’t let him go after just one year (…) But the truth is that there are also other top clubs out there (…) and we have to generate revenue.”

As revealed, FC Bayern are very keen on him for the summer. However, it depends on the price. Top… https://t.co/rlO1yMlaXu
