Florian Wirtz was excellent in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Burnley at Anfield – it’s just a shame about some of his teammates!
The Reds threw away two sloppy points on Saturday, producing a terrible second-half performance after leading at the interval.
Here we compare our player ratings with those of the Liverpool Echo, GOAL and the TIA readers.
This was one of those days where it was obvious who Liverpool’s standout player was, with Wirtz (7.88) receiving comfortably the highest rating after another promising afternoon.
This Is Anfield‘s Henry Jackson felt Wirtz excelled in his “fluid, advanced midfield role,” while GOAL’s Tom Bellwood said he “took his goal very well,” firing into the top corner.

Milos Kerkez (7.05) was also a positive to take from a disappointing day, producing another exciting display.
Ian Doyle of the Echo lauded a “very industrious first-half display” from the left-back, but added that he “faded” in the second half, like so many.
Cody Gakpo (5.40) is in poor form and he got the lowest score, despite winning the penalty which Dominik Szoboszlai (5.83) missed.
Jackson wrote that the Dutchman’s “penchant for always cutting inside is frustrating,” making him too one-dimensional.
What the stats say: Wirtz rated 8.2
According to FotMob, Wirtz was also the best player for Liverpool in a statistical sense.
The 22-year-old created three chances for teammates – the third-most behind Kerkez (six) and Jeremie Frimpong (four) – and he also had 101 touches.
Ryan Gravenberch may not have had the most memorable of afternoons, but he won 86 percent of his ground duels (6/7) – the most of any Liverpool player.
Curtis Jones didn’t fare well in that respect, though, winning just one out of nine (11%).
