Italian Fabrizio Romano has opened up and reported that Chelsea are in active talks to sign Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet this January window, as they seek to add to that back-line this month.
Liam Rosenior has enjoyed a very good start to life at CHELSEA, but he knows that the season is long and the board are hoping to make a couple of transfer signings over the next few weeks, and a new defender is on the agenda.
Levi Colwill’s recovery from a serious knee injury is going very well, and the England defender remains a central part of Chelsea’s long-term plans. At the same time, Chelsea are cautiously optimistic they will be able to sign a new centre back, who is their preferred option, this month and talks have stepped up.
The Blues have reportedly shown an interest in Jacquet over the past few weeks, and now it seems that Italian Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea are keen to sign up the French starlet.
“CHELSEA are in active talks since start of the week to get new centre back in January, important immediate addition,” Fabrizio Romano said.
“Jeremy Jacquet has been on shortlist since July and remains one of the three names on#CFC list for January. Decision on new CB, soon.”
IcFootballnews Says…
CHELSEA are linked with one of the best young defenders in the game, he is a player that all the big clubs have been keeping ana eye on, and a player that has the potential to become a big time player.
A move to Chelsea may be a great move for the lad, but at the end of the day, he is not really the type of player that will improve that back-line, they really need someone with a bit more experience and leadership.
