The January transfer window is now reaching its midpoint. Following a relatively quiet period, things are starting to pick up.
There is almost always a flurry of activity in the Premier League towards the end of the winter window – in this piece, we’ll give you a brief roundup of all the clubs in England’s top division.
AFC Bournemouth
Following the depature of Antoine Semenyo to Manchester City, Bournemouth are now tasked with finding a new star winger. At the time of writing, the Cherries are yet to find their man.
They have plenty of money to play around with – Semenyo’s fee of £65 million wil certainly pay dividends towards securing a replacement for him.
They could look to sign Rayan from Vasco da Gama – a highly-rated teenage winger who plays in Brazil. He’s thought to be in their crosshairs at the moment, but they haven’t submitted an official offer yet.
Transfers in: Ade Solanke (loan, from Lorient).
Transfers out: Julian Araujo (Celtic, loan), Antoine Semenyo (Manchester City, £65m).
Arsenal
Arsenal don’t need to do any business in January – their performance in the summer transfer window has proven to be more than sufficient to sustain them throughout the campaign.
There has only been one piece of transfer activity so far at the Emirates Stadium in January – youngster Louie Copley has joined Crawley Town on loan.
Transfers in: None
Transfers out: Louie Copley (Crawley, loan).
Aston Villa
Aston Villa have been fairly busy in January, with a total of six deals being completed at Villa Park since January 1.
Four players have left the club, including Donyell Malen, who has joined Roma for an undisclosed fee. The Villans have an abundance of wingers – it isn’t surprising to see one leave the club.
They’re not done, either – Unai Emery’s men have been linked with a move for former Chelsea academy graduate and one-time Villa loanee Tammy Abraham. Abraham would be a welcome addition to Emery’s attacking options.
Transfers in: Alysson (£10.5m, from Gremio), Brain Madjo (undisclosed, from FC Metz).
Transfers out: Aidan Borland (Swindon, loan) Sil Swinkels (Chesterfield, loan), Donyell Malen (Roma, undisclosed), Finley Munroe (Middlesbrough, undisclosed).
Brentford
Brentford have also been noticeably busy this January – like Villa, they have also completed six transfer deals.
Five players have left the club, while promising attacker Kaye Furo has joined the Bees for an undisclosed fee from Club Brugge in the Belgian Pro League. Keith Andrews’ men are flying high in the Premier League at the moment – there is no need for them to splash the cash.
Transfers in: Kaye Furo (undisclosed, from Club Brugge).
Transfers out: Michael Olakigbe (Swindon, loan), Myles Peart-Harris (Oxford United, loan), Matthew Cox (Shrewsbury, loan), Chanse Headman (Harrogate, undisclosed), Yunus Konak (Oxford United, loan).
