Bid planned: Chelsea now preparing opening bid for "generational talent", want deal done ASAP

Chelsea are now preparing an opening bid for a "generational talent", as they want to secure his signature as soon as possible.

Rosenior secure first Premier League victory

Liam Rosenior made the perfect start in the Premier League, securing a 2-0 victory against Brentford, and the new manager was left impressed by his side's attitude, saying: "What pleased me the most, which was summed up into two goals, was the players' willingness to battle, to fight, to block shots, to make headers and tackles.

"That's the reason we got the clean sheet – and actually it was the attitude that got us the two goals and win us the game."

Joao Pedro opened the scoring in the first half, before Cole Palmer fired home from the penalty spot to secure all three points, with the Blues moving up to sixth in the Premier League table in the process.

Although Rosenior will be delighted to win his first league game, fans may be concerned that Chelsea are no closer to challenging for the title this season, and Gary Neville has doubts about the average age of the squad.

Neville said: "You genuinely can’t win anything with kids. That’s a fact.

"Chelsea need some experience in and around the club. If you have young players on the pitch I also think you need an experienced manager."

However, according to a report from Spain, Chelsea remain keen on adding another young forward to their squad, and they are now preparing an opening offer of €25m (22m) for Leicester City's Jeremy Monga.

Jeremy Monga

Such is the Blues' level of interest in Monga, they want to get a deal done as soon as possible, but there could be competition for the 16-year-old's signature, with Manchester City also determined to win the race.

"Generational talent" Monga could be future star

There are indications the starlet could be destined to play at the very highest level, with journalist Graeme Bailey saying: "Monga is a generational talent. At just 16, he already has more first-team appearances than players like Rio Ngumoha and Max Dowman, who have made huge impacts in the Premier League this season."

Despite still being very young, the teenager has already emerged as a first-team regular for Leicester, making 18 Championship appearances this season and chipping in with one goal and one assist.

The Blues have joined the race.

As the forward is often utilised as a substitute for Leicester, he may be some way off being able to push for a place in Chelsea's starting XI, but it is an encouraging sign that he is gaining first-team experience at this age.

Monga could be a future star, but Neville's concerns about the Blues not having enough experience are valid, and having already signed the likes of Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho in the summer, it wouldn't be a major blow to miss out on the Leicester ace.
