Liverpool are reportedly competing for the signing of a hugely in demand young Brazilian in the January transfer window after more dropped points against Burnley.
Van Dijk calls players only meeting after Burnley draw
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is expected to call a squad meeting on Monday to address the issues which are threatening to derail their bid for Champions League qualification, following a 1-1 draw against Burnley.
The Reds have now drawn with all three promoted teams at Anfield this season, the first time in Premier League history they have failed to beat the three newcomers at home.
Van Dijk was so annoyed he was unusually quick to leave the dressing room to speak to waiting reporters.
“I’m frustrated that after 60 minutes we started to become sloppy and it’s not the first time,” the Dutchman said as preparations begin for a significant Champions League trip to Marseille.
“It’s been spoken about already but we have to address it again apparently and Monday will be a big one for it because Wednesday will be a very difficult game over there not only because of the atmosphere but it’s against a (Roberto) De Zerbi team who make it very difficult for you.
“It’s not about me addressing it, it is about how can we solve it because we all want to win games and we had plenty of chances to do so (against Burnley).”

Fans have been frustrated by the lack of additions in the January transfer window, even more so after former target Marc Guehi agreed to join Manchester City.

Liverpool in race for Breno Bidon
According to Turkish journalist Burhan Can Terzi, via Sport Witness, Galatasaray are in danger of losing a transfer target because Liverpool have entered the race.
“Galatasaray is currently in contact with and very much wants a player, and the president has approved him,” he said. “This player is 20 years old. This is the player who is not Hakan Çalhanoğlu. Galatasaray’s rival in this transfer is Liverpool.”
While the reporter did not confirm the player's name, Sport Witness believe it to be Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon, who has also been chased by Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Brighton.

The Brazil under-20 international has already played a staggering 102 senior games for Corinthians, drawing comparisons to PSG star Vitinha for his ability to weave in and out of tight situations in midfield.
Liverpool are shy in the defensive areas so it would be a surprise if their next major signing didn't come at the back, but this is certainly one to keep an eye on in the coming days and weeks.
