The former Liverpool player recently parted ways with Real Madrid.
Such are the high levels of expectation at Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso was fired from his role as manager of Real Madrid earlier this week after the club’s defeat to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup Final.
Overall, Alonso’s reign at Real Madrid had not been a disastrous one, but rumours of an unsettled dressing room led many to believe that was the reason for his untimely dismissal.
Los Blancos moved swiftly hire his replacement, who is another former Liverpool player, in Alvaro Arbeloa.
Xabi Alonso is not expected to take an extended break from management and is being considered by several clubs.
In the Bundesliga, Xabi Alonso enjoyed a hugely successful time, taking on a Bayer Leverkusen side that weren’t achieving anything special and took them on a record-breaking campaign in which they won the title whilst going unbeaten.
After a not so successful spell in Spain, a German team are looking to bring him back to the Bundesliga.
That team is Eintracht Frankfurt.
The club sacked manager Dino Toppmoller today and are now considering other candidates.
Xabi Alonso is being considered.
According to BILD, Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krosche is reportedly planning to meet with the recently fired Real Madrid coach.
“It wouldn’t be out of character for him. Krosche likes to go for the top brass. Is Alonso even within his reach?”
It remains to be seen which direction Alonso will next go in, as returning to the Bundesliga with another club may upset the Bayer Leverkusen faithful and that is something Alonso surely wouldn’t want to do.
