The NBA’s new all-star voting process makes room for fresh faces

The NBA’s byzantine all-star selection process was simplified in a crucial way this season: Positions no longer matter.

In past years, the 12 players named from each conference were composed of two backcourt starters, three frontcourt starters, two backcourt reserves, three frontcourt reserves and two “wild card” selections. This year, anything goes.
