Arsenal have reached an agreement to loan Ajax a player for the rest of the current season.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf report the two European giants have come to an agreement for the loan of Oleksandr Zinchenko. The 29-year-old was considered out of Mikel Arteta’s plans in the summer and was subsequently allowed to find a new club.
As the deadline was getting close, Nottingham Forest agreed to take the Ukraine international. Since then the left back has made 10 appearances for Forest, totalling around 700 minutes.
The Arsenal owned played hasn’t made a Premier League appearance since December, although he did get a half against Wrexham in the EFL Cup.
De Telegraaf report Ajax want to finalise the arrival as soon as possible.
Ajax are currently third in the Eredivisie, a huge 18 points behind PSV. Whilst the title is out of the picture, the Amsterdam club are only two points behind Feyenoord in second, and need to overcome them to qualify for the Champions League.
According to the Dutch newspaper, only details remain for the move from Arsenal to be completed. Zinchenko will need to travel to the Netherlands for a medical, presumably quickly. Then he can sign up with Ajax for at least the rest of the season.
Zinchenko’s contract with Arsenal expires at the end of this season. Therefore, according to De Telegraaf, Ajax will try to reach a longer term agreement with the player.
