According to De Telegraaf, Ajax are set to rescue Oleksandr Zinchenko – and Nottingham Forest – from his unhappy loan spell at the City Ground by signing the Ukraine international for the second half of the season.
The 29-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements after an injury-hit and underwhelming stint, during which he has played under three different managers.
Zinchenko has previous experience in the Netherlands, having spent the 2016/17 season on loan at PSV Eindhoven while contracted to Manchester City.
With his Arsenal deal expiring in the summer, he’ll be keen to make a strong impression in Amsterdam ahead of becoming a free agent. It’s said Ajax have one eye on recruiting him permanently.
Ajax, currently third in the Eredivisie, recently bolstered their squad with the short-term signing of former Gunner Takehiro Tomiyasu.
