Liverpool may be lacking when it comes to imminent January arrivals but the Premier League champions could be setting up for the summer. Arne Slot's side have yet to really venture into the winter transfer window – save 18-year-old Mor Talla Ndiaye – even with the long-term injuries to Alexander Isak and Conor Bradley.

The Reds are certainly in need of something after a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Burnley condemned them to a fourth straight league stalemate. While they've maintained fourth spot despite their dire run of results, fans are growing tired of their disappointing performances.

Yan Diomande may have less than 30 career senior appearance to his name but that hasn't stopped the excitement surrounding the teenage sensation. The 19-year-old joined RB Leipzig this past summer from La Liga side Leganes in a £17m (€20m) deal.

Just 16 games deep into his career at the Bundesliga side, Diomande has scored seven goals and assisted three goals, with the Ivory Coast international reportedly subject to interest across Europe, including from Liverpool.

Midway through his first season in Germany, Leipzig chairman Oliver Mintzlaff insisted that he would prefer to keep Diomande for more than one season. However, he admitted that money eventually talks and the club need to generate revenue.

Speaking to Sky Germany, Mintzlaff said: "You can’t let him go after just one year. But the truth is that there are also other top clubs out there and we have to generate revenue." The winger could welcome a move to the Premier League giants given his recent revelation of being a fan of the club.

German publication BILD (via Sport Witness) quoted the Ivorian as saying: "I want to play for Liverpool. I'm a huge Liverpool fan. My dad dreams of seeing me play at Anfield!"

£70m potential deal

Defence has been a problem area for Slot this season thanks to injuries and loss of form of certain players. With Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate out of contract at the end of the season and Giovanni Leoni ruled out until the end of 2026 due to his ACL injury, Liverpool's backline issues could seriously hamper them next season.

One potential solution would be the acquisition of Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni who is reportedly willing to leave the Italian giants, according to TEAMtalk. The 26-year-old is contacted to Inter until 2028 and the report adds that a transfer for the Italy international will only be green lit for a fee of £70m.

Slot had the opportunity to watch Bastoni up close last month when his side earned a 1-0 victory at the San Siro against the Serie A side. It was Bastoni who gave away the late penalty Dominik Szoboszlai scored following a foul on Florian Wirtz.
