Ajax have reached a verbal agreement with Arsenal to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko on loan for the remainder of the season, according to Dutch media outlet [De Telegraaf](https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/voetbal/ajax-hoopt-voormalig-premier-league-kanon-oleksandr-zinchenko-te-strikken/124616675.html).
Zinchenko will travel to Amsterdam on Monday to finalise a move to the Eredivisie outfit.
Arsenal signed Zinchenko in the summer of 2022 from Manchester City under Mikel Arteta, and he was a huge part of their side that challenged City for the Premier League title on two consecutive occasions.
However, the emergence of Miles Lewis-Skelly and the signing of Riccardo Calafiori forced him out of the Emirates Stadium.
He joined Forest on transfer deadline day in September, though he has yet to be on the winning side in the Premier League under Sean Dyche.
The Ukrainian started three games under former manager Ange Postecoglou, drawing against Burnley and losing to both Sunderland and Chelsea, before a groin injury kept him out of action for two months.
The move comes after a disappointing loan spell at City Ground, where he made just four Premier League starts this campaign.
Dyche confirmed ahead of a meeting with Arsenal in the Premier League that Forest were prepared to let Zinchenko move on in the winter transfer window. He said, “We’ve spoken to the player, made him clear on his situation. He’s aware of that, so we’ll see what happens.
“He’s played a couple of games but hasn’t featured in others. He’s been injured. That hasn’t been helpful to him or to us. I’ve just been open with him, really. It’s like I say, I’m open with all players.
“But I think when you’ve done as much as he has in the game, it’s more of a conversation. Not demanding anything other than just telling him the truth, as I see it. And that’s how much he can figure out, how much game time he’s going to get at this time.”
The four-time Premier League champion’s contract at the Emirates runs out at the end of the season, with him making 91 appearances for the Gunners.
Ajax currently sit third in the Eredivisie table, 18 points adrift of league leaders PSV, and Zinchenko’s acquisition will be a big boost for the Dutch giants.
