Here is a roundup of the top Liverpool news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Micky Van De Ven and Yan Diomande that you may have missed…
Liverpool have been urged to sign Tottenham centre-back Micky van de Ven after losing out to Manchester City in the race for Marc Guehi, who agreed to join Pep Guardiola’s side this January.
Liverpool remain in the market for a new central defender due to the uncertainty over Ibrahima Konate’s future as the France international’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
Tottenham may have won that Europa League title last season, but they have been one of the worst big teams in the Premier League for the last couple of years, and this campaign isnt any better.
their home form is terrible, they are conceding too many goals, they are scoring far too few and Spurs fans are so unhappy, that they are booing the players off the pitch on a weekly basis for not fighting enough under boss Thomas Frank.
That has led to all sorts of speculation and rumours in the media suggesting that a number of players are looking for ways out of the club, and Van De Ven is a star that many of the big clubs are very much interested in signing.
Now TV commentator and talkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy believes Van de Ven, who joined Spurs in a £43m deal from Wolfsburg in 2023, would be the perfect addition to Liverpool’s defence.
‘Here’s the thing, if I’m Liverpool I’m going after Van de Ven,’ Cundy told talkSPORT after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday.
‘That’s what I would do, I would absolutely go all out. They lost out on Guehi, Van de Ven is the next big thing at centre-half.
‘He’s perfect for LIVERPOOL if they want to play a high line. I’m going straight after him.’

Van De Ven wants to win things, he wants to play at the highest level of the game and that is why he would be interested in a move to Liverpool, they would give him all the opportunities to be his best.
And to be honest, he would be interested in a move to LIVERPOOL that is for sure.
DIOMANDE BOOST
RedBull director Oliver Mintzlaff has reportedly told the likes of Liverpool that they dont want to sell Yan Diomande, but admits that “we have to generate revenue.”
Despite all the quality that LIVERPOOL has all over the pitch, there has been reports that the Reds have joined the chase alongside Arsenal, Man United and Tottenham in the hunt to try and sign Yan Diomande.

Diomande has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the Bundesliga since joining RB Leipzig from CD Leganes this past summer. and he 19-year-old has been one of the most productive attackers for the Bundesliga club this season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 16 outings in all competitions thus far
Now the Blues have been alerted to the fact that RB are open to letting Diomande leave the club in order to generate some income – RedBull director Oliver Mintzlaff told Sky: “You can’t let him go after just one year (…), but the truth is that there are also other top clubs out there (…) and we have to generate revenue.”

The money that is being talked about for Diomande is well over £80 million, he has been brilliant for the German side this season and his quality and age is why that valuation is so high.
LIVERPOOL have been lacking quality this season in both attack and defender, Arne Slot has been given the money to sign the players that he wanted, and it has not worked out.
Diomande would bring energy, hungry and a desire with him that is seemingly lacking from a number of Liverpool stars right now, so if they are to replace the likes of Mohamed Salah, who has been tipped to leave, then the Bundesliga star could be a very good option.
But he is far from the finished article and LIVERPOOL would need to be patient with the lad.
VAN DE VEN STATEMENT
With transfer rumours heating up around Micky van de Ven, LIVERPOOL are reportedly among the Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the Dutch centre-back — and it’s not hard to see why the Reds might see him as a transformative addition to their back line, according to reporter Iomie Stanley.
Reporter Iomie Stanley told icfootballnews: 1. ‘One of van de Ven’s standout attributes is his exceptional speed and recovery pace. He’s been clocked among the fastest defenders in the Premier League, capable of sprinting past many attackers and recovering quickly when a high line is breached.
‘This kind of pace is a rare asset for a centre-back at any level, and it would give Liverpool the kind of defensive confidence that allows a more aggressive defensive structure.
‘At 6ft 4in, van de Ven combines height, strength and aerial ability — crucial traits for dominating both domestic and European opponents. He has consistently shown strong tackling and interception statistics in the Premier League, helping to neutralise opposition attacks and win key duels.
‘*LIVERPOOL*have frequently faced criticism for lacking a reliable ball-playing centre-back to initiate attacks from the back. Van de Ven’s comfort on the ball and willingness to carry forward or progress play could address that need. While he’s not a traditional playmaker from defence, his composure and passing reliability would add stability to build-ups under pressure.
‘At just 24, van de Ven strikes a balance between being ready to contribute immediately and possessing significant room for growth. Liverpool could benefit from investing in a defender who not only helps now but has the potential to become a long-term cornerstone of their defence.
‘For LIVERPOOL, signing Micky van de Ven would not just be about adding another defender: it would be a statement signing. His blend of speed, strength and emerging leadership, combined with his age and Premier League experience, makes him a standout candidate to anchor a rejuvenated Reds defence.’
