Tuesday medical for Arsenal exit–2 agents working on transfer

Takehiro Tomiyasu left Arsenal when his contract at the Emirates expired at the end of last season. The Japanese fullback was without a club until he joined Ajax in December.

Tomiyasu’s former Arsenal teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko could now join him at the Dutch club in the winter market.

At the weekend, De Telegraaf reported Arsenal have reached an agreement with Ajax for the 26-year-old’s loan transfer, and only details need sorting. They stated the Amsterdam club want to finalise the operation as soon as possible.

Mikel Arteta left the Ukraine international out of his plans for this season. Therefore, the Gunners sent him on loan to Nottingham Forest in September 2025. He played 714 minutes from 10 matches of which 353 minutes were from five league games.

Zinchenko hasn’t made an appearance in the Premier League since December. Sean Dyche has limited him to 45 minutes in the FA Cup defeat to Wrexham this month. The Eredivisie side have opened their door for the 29-year-old in January.

Tuesday medical for Arsenal exit

A fresh report from De Telegraaf again points out the agreement between Arsenal and the Amsterdam club and then provides the latest.

Ajax are in contact with the Ukrainian’s agent, Jorge Mendes. The newspaper state Dutch agent Nathan van Kooperen brokered the deal between them and Arteta’s side.

On Sunday, claims elsewhere stated he’ll travel within 24 hours to join Ajax. According to De Telegraaf, Zinchenko’s medical tests are scheduled on Tuesday.

The north London club have to first terminate the fullback’s loan deal with Nottingham Forest. If they finalise that quickly, Ajax can then wrap up the player’s signing soon. If not, his medical could be delayed.

Zinchenko is in his final six months of contract at the Emirates. With a loan move to Ajax, he will leave Arsenal as a free agent.
