Another Bundesliga clash witnessed a 3-3 thriller between Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt, with Karl Hein on the Bremen bench.

Elsewhere in England, Shrewsbury Town finally returned to winning ways with a crucial League Two triumph over Harrogate Town.
