Yan Diomande

Yan Diomande has emerged as a potential reinforcement for Liverpool

Hello and welcome to the Echo's live blog on Monday, January 19.

The winter transfer window is nearing its conclusion, with just under two weeks remaining for clubs to complete their business. Liverpool have been relatively quiet so far, withand James Norris departing for Shelbourne.

Although several players continue to be linked with a move to Anfield, Liverpool have missed out on Marc Guehi - the defender whose transfer to Merseyside collapsed at the last minute last summer. He is now set to join Manchester City with a £30m deal due to be announced today.

After the 1-1 draw with Burnley at the weekend, side will now turn their attention to Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Marseille.

Federico Chiesa 'doubt'

Chiesa's prospects of a move to Juventus now appear uncertain, with Tutto Mercato claiming their focus has shifted toward alternative attacking targets.

The club are targeting both Jean‑Philippe Mateta and Daniel Maldini.

Talks are reportedly already underway with Crystal Palace and Mateta's representatives, while Juventus are also weighing up a move to reunite Atalanta forward Maldini with Luciano Spalletti.

RB Leipzig's sporting director, Marcel Schäfer, has insisted the club are firmly in the driving seat when it comes to Diomande's future.

Leipzig signed the midfielder last summer from Leganes after triggering his £17.4 million release clause.

The winger has attracted interest from Liverpool and Man United. However, Leipzig may not be in any hurry to sell.

When asked whether the club were in the 'front seat' regarding Diomande's future, Schafer replied, via bullinews.com: "There isn’t even anyone in the passenger seat. Everyone is sitting in the back seat."

According to the Evening Standard, Liverpool are no longer thought to be in the running for the Brazilian.

The Wolves star could leave the relegation‑threatened club at the end of the season, having caught the eye of several Premier League sides, including Man United.

Interest in £50m Bundesliga star

In December, it was reported that Liverpool had engaged in discussions with Nico Schlotterbeck's representatives about a potential move to the Premier League.

With Guehi seemingly no longer an option, the Reds might intensify their efforts to secure the Borussia Dortmund star this month.

Insiders suggest that the centre-back is on Liverpool's radar along with Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni, and that the German player is not interested in renewing his contract with the Bundesliga heavyweights, preferring a move instead.
