Moises Caicedo started in Liam Rosenior’s first Premier League game in charge of Chelsea.
The midfielder helped his new manager to pick up a win as Chelsea went on to beat Brentford 2-0 over the weekend.
Caicedo also featured in Rosenior’s first match as Blues boss, an emphatic 5-1 victory over Charlton Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup.

That win has set up a tie with Rosenior’s former club Hull City in the fourth round. It will see both the 41-year-old and Liam Delap return to the MKM Stadium.

Moises Caicedo told to get on the ball more
If Caicedo plays against Hull, Rosenior will be expecting him to dictate play and retain possession.
The former Strasbourg manager has told Caicedo and Chelsea’s other midfielders that he wants to see them on the ball, the Ecuadorian has shared.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official club website after his side’s win against Brentford, Caicedo said: “He likes the midfielders to get the ball a lot of the time, so I’m trying to do that.
“It’s difficult in the Premier League because it’s man to man, but I’ve done well in the two games I’ve played under him, and for sure I’m going to do better in every game.”
The above will also apply to Enzo Fernandez, who is reportedly attracting a bit of interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain right now.

It has been claimed that Chelsea are actually willing to sell Fernandez in the summer, which has left Real Madrid delighted.

Moises Caicedo’s passing stats this season
Considering Rosenior’s instructions for Caicedo, it is worth looking at some of the 24-year-old’s passing numbers in the current campaign.
According to WhoScored, Caicedo is making 55.6 passes per game in the Premier League. It is the third-highest average in Chelsea’s squad, so he is already getting on the ball.
His pass success rate is 91%, so Caicedo can be trusted in possession. However, as per FBref, he only ranks in the 74th percentile for progressive passes.
Ultimately, Caicedo is already seeing a lot of the ball at Chelsea but can probably be a bit braver in possession.
Of course, his main job will still be stopping opposition attacks, a task he has carried out extremely well this term.
