Everton duo Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye had a night to remember on Sunday, as they won the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.
Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye started the AFCON final against Morocco last night as Senegal won 1-0 in extra time.
It was perhaps one of the most eventful games of the century, as Senegal had a goal controversially ruled out late on in normal time before the referee gave a very soft penalty to Morocco a few minutes later, which led to players storming off the pitch.
But, Brahim Diaz missed from the spot, and the Teranga Lions went on to get the winner in the 94th minute.
To mark Ndiaye and Gueye’s achievement, Everton boasted a new feature at the Hill Dickinson Stadium last night.
Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium lit up in Senegal colours
Everton lit up their Hill Dickinson Stadium in Senegal colours last night, and it certainly made for a stunning photo.
The club’s official X account posted the 52,000-seater lit up in yellow and green, which reflected beautifully on the River Mersey.
Everton stated: “Lighting up our home for you, Senegal! Proud of our #AFCON2025 champions. See you in a few days, lads!”
