LIVERPOOL are reportedly now looking at Ousmane Diomande as an alternative to Marc Guehi after Manchester City made their moves this January window to steal the Crystal Palace defender from the Reds.
The Reds looked set to sign the England defender last summer before Crystal Palace pulled the plug on a Deadline Day move, and it was believed that they would make a move at the end of the season when his current deal ran out at Palace.
But Man City did not want to wait until the end of the season and instead made an offer to Palace for £30 million in a bid to seal a deal for Guehi this January, and the England star has agreed that move to City.
Reports now claim that Arne Slot is targeting Diomande as a possible alternative to Guehi, who recently played at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco with Ivory Coast and has been impressive for his current club Sporting Lisbon.
Diomande has been attracting all sorts of interest over the past few months, with many reports suggesting that Arsenal and Manchester United are both interested in a potential deal for the £75 million star.
IcFootballnews says…
LIVERPOOL should have made a move for Guehi, he may have preferred the move to Anfield over City, but they waited and instead missed out on a player that could have really improved that back-line.
Diomande is a quality centre-back that is impressing over in the Portuguese League, so to come to the Premier League with and play at one of the biggest clubs in world football would be a massive step up.
He would need time to adapt to England, he would be a risky signing, but a solid one
