Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has taken a thinly-veiled swipe at the people advising wantaway Chelsea and PSG target Dro Fernandez after the midfielder edged closer to leaving Camp Nou.
At just 17, Dro made his senior debut in Barcelona’s 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad, a moment that not only signaled the arrival of a new star but also underlined the club’s determination to retain its most prized talents
However – the teenage prodigy informed Barcelona of his decision to leave the club during the January transfer window, and the 18-year-old attacking midfielder is set to activate the paltry €6 million (£5.18m/$6.96m) termination clause in his contract to seek more consistent first-team opportunities elsewhere.
Arsenal, CHELSEA and PSG have been linked with a transfer for the gifted young star, but it seems that a move to the French giants is the one that Dro wants, as they have reportedly reached an agreement over a move.
And Flick has taken a thinly-veiled swipe at the people advising the attacker – Speaking to Diario AS, Flick said: “I will speak when this has already happened, now is not the time. As a coach, what we do is give confidence to the players.
‘You try to believe in them so that they grow. I also know that there are people around him. I want to wait for this to be a thing of the past. If he decides to change clubs, then we will deal with it. Now is not the time.
“The situation today, everyone is here. If Dro is not closed, I am not going to answer this question. But we are in the world of football and sometimes things happen. You may not agree with what you do, but they are adults.
‘There are people around them and it may incite them. But I don’t want to talk anymore, I think that’s enough.”
IcFootballnews Says…
To Leave Barcelona when he is getting some opportunities to play is a massive shock, especially as a move to the likes of PSG may not work out and he may actually play less than he is right now.
CHELSEA wants the lad but it looks like he’s heading to PSG.
