Liverpool manager Arne Slot is under increasing pressure at Anfield after the Dutchman and his players were booed off the pitch following the 1-1 draw against Burnley.
Slot 'understands' Liverpool boos
Slot accepted it was understandable fans booed after they failed to beat struggling Burnley at Anfield.
Florian Wirtz’s first-half goal – after Dominik Szoboszlai had missed a penalty – barely reflected the hosts’ dominance but they were made to pay for their inability to manage the game as Marcus Edwards equalised with the Clarets’ only shot on target in the 65th minute.
As a result, Liverpool became the first reigning champions in Premier League history to fail to win at home against the three sides promoted from the Sky Bet Championship.
“In my head it wasn’t booing but in my head it was frustration as well.
“We have to give credit to Burnley for defending, clearing balls off the line, all the things you want to see if you are the Burnley manager, trying everything to prevent us scoring.
“But if you, as Liverpool, are not disappointed by having a draw at home to Burnley then something is completely wrong.
“I completely understand the frustration. I have the same frustrations and the players definitely have the same frustrations as the fans."
Liverpool have already had the hit of missing out on Marc Guehi this month, and The Athletic's James Pearce shared an update on Slot's future after the match.
Pearce stated the sudden availability of Xabi Alonso may well have changed the thinking at the club.
Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso before the match
"Slot retains the backing of FSG, who have no plans to follow the lead of rivals Manchester United and Chelsea by making a managerial change mid-campaign," he said.
"However, if he’s going to stop haemorrhaging support among the fanbase he needs to find momentum, and fast. There appeared to be no obvious replacement for those demanding change. That’s no longer the case following Xabi Alonso’s exit from Real Madrid."

Liverpool could end up signing a dream alternative to Marc Guehi in a sensational talent compared to William Saliba.
Alonso open to joining Liverpool with timeline revealed
Sources close to Alonso have told Football FanCast that the Spaniard would be open to taking the Liverpool job, but only at the end of the season.
The former Anfield legend wants time to implement his ideas and work with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes on rebuilding the squad, starting with defensive additions.

Despite a relatively unsuccessful spell in Madrid, rival Barcelona boss Hansi Flick was full of praise for Alonso last week: "I’ve had a very good relationship with Xabi Alonso since his time at Bayer Leverkusen, when I was coaching the German national team. I wish him all the best. I’m convinced that he and his coaching staff will soon be involved in a great project. He’s a fantastic coach with a bright future."
FSG have proven themselves to be patient operators in both the transfer market and with their managers, but Slot is treading a slippery slope having lost the faith of the home support on Saturday.
