Out on loan Man City defender rules out early return despite defensive injuries

**Manuel Akanji says there is no chance of returning to Manchester City from his loan spell at Inter Milan this month.**

City have been dealt [several defensive injury blows of late](https://hayters.com/man-city-midfielder-to-be-assessed-ahead-of-manchester-derby/) with Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol and John Stones all currently sidelined.

Akanji joined Inter, who face Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday, on loan for the season in the summer.

It is believed Inter also have an obligation to buy the defender on a permanent deal should they win Serie A this season.

And Akanji has suggested he hopes to stay at the Italian club for longer than just this campaign.

“The earlier question was about whether I’d return in the winter and I said no chance,” the Switzerland international said.

“I don’t know what will happen in the summer.

“It’s not only up to me, we’ll see what happens at the end of the year, but I’m very happy here and I hope this continues. We’ll see.”

Manchester City have bolstered their defence with the signing of Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace on a five-and-a-half year deal, however.
